In 2014 we were confronted with significant cybersecurity issues in the news on an almost weekly basis. Heartbleed, Shellshock and Poodle were only the most visible tip of the vulnerability iceberg, and clearly no organization was spared from the risks. Breaches occurred at some of the largest and most respected organizations; some were in the top 1% of the Internet in terms of security and awareness. Everyone was left scrambling to assess their risks and roll out mitigations as best they could to stem the bleeding. 2014 also made us all aware that the current reactive mindset is just not working.
The data shows that the only way forward is for organizations to be proactive about their cybersecurity posture. They need to measure it, understand it, and build well thought-out policies that blend their business needs with their risk profile. QuadMetrics has built a suite of products for these organizations. At our core, we are an Internet cybersecurity risk measurement company. We continue to apply our collective expertise to allow organizations to measure and quantify their cybersecurity risk posture. Any organization can now see themselves as others see them and take action. It is important to note that it is not just internal policies and procedures that matter when it comes to cybersecurity, but the policies and procedures of everyone you connect to and do business with. cybersecurity risk exposure now needs to be an essential element of any partner or vendor evaluation process and not just an afterthought, and QuadMetrics has the products that allow organizations to quickly gage third-party risk without requiring an expensive onsite audit for every business relationship.
At QuadMetrics, our vision is to change the cybersecurity risk conversation from a vulnerability after-action-review to a core daily communication that engages all levels of leadership in an organization. QuadMetrics enables organizations to know their current security posture and make structured, conscious decisions that will evolve it over time. Meaningful numbers matter and that is what are are tackling at QuadMetrics — blending large scale internet cyber risk measurements with modeling and risk analysis to create effective cyber risk metrics. We deliver the metrics and measurements that demonstrate the value of cybersecurity investments or changes in policies and procedures.
Not all cybersecurity problems will be magically solved in 2015, and, if anything, last year showed that there is no magic product that can be thrown at the problems to make them disappear. We have seen that. Now it is time to get organized. It has to start with the data. We want to help organizations make 2015 the year they become more deliberate and thoughtful of their cybersecurity risk.
